Today December 5 we celebrate International Volunteer Day. The event honors the efforts of all people around the world who dedicate themselves for the service of others through volunteering. IVD is an international day of observance that has been declared by the United Nations since 1985.
Now more than ever, there is a greater need to strengthen volunteer work. Studies have shown that volunteerism provides an individual with a sense of purpose and direction. Likewise, it builds stronger social connections and makes them happier and healthier mentally as well as physically. There are many possible ways you can strengthen the call for volunteerism and here are some of them:
Raise Funds For A Local Volunteer Organization
Let the volunteers in your area know that you appreciate the work they are doing. In your own little way, you can inspire them by conducting a fundraising drive to keep their work going. You can organize a garage sale of logo work t shirts the proceeds of which will go to a local volunteer organization.
Be active in volunteer work yourself
Whether as a member of the Rotary Club or the Knights of Columbus, the best way to strengthen volunteerism is by being one yourself. Contact the nearest chapter of these organizations and find out how you can become a member. They have advertisements all around—in electric posts, pamphlets, customized bumper stickers, or even in the church bulletin boards.
Take part in the events
There are many side events that are being held in accordance with International Volunteer Day. Support the cause by joining rallies or marches. Bring along promotional flags and banners (See samples) during the event and let the people know about your campaign.
Conduct workshop about volunteering
You can go around your community and educate the citizens about the importance and benefits of volunteer work. At the end of the workshop or symposium, you can give out mini pill holder keychain.
To help you in calling out for the strengthening of volunteer work, there are a variety of tradeshow giveaways that you can consider giving out.
