The date December 7, 1941 may be considered as one of the darkest days in the United States’ campaign during World War II and triggered its entry into the Second World War. That dawn attack by Japanese zero fighter planes led to the death of almost 2,402 soldiers. The US Pacific Fleet stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii lost most of its powerful aircraft carriers thereby crippling its ability to support the region.
